Distress identification manual for the long-term pavement
This manual is intended for use in collection of Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) data for the Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) program. As such, it contains background information on FWD equipment and the general role of FWD testing within LTPP as well as a set of field operations guidelines for the data collection process. The distress identification manual presents the different types of distresses found on the surfaces of asphalt pavement, composite pavement, and PCCP. Each distress type in this manual is resented along with descriptions, causes, measurements, and pictures of each type of distress. The manual is mainly based on the Distress. Accurate, consistent, and repeatable distress evaluation surveys can be performed by using the Distress Identification Manual for the Long-Term Pavement Performance www.doorway.ru by:

Pavement Distress Types and Causes This Appendix provides descriptions of the types and causes of the distresses that occur in asphalt, concrete, and asphalt-overlaid concrete pavements, and asphalt and concrete shoulders. Many of the photos used in this Appendix are from the LTPPDistress Identification Manual.1 Asphalt Pavement Distresses. This manual was developed to provide a consistent, uniform basis for collecting distress data for the LTPP program. This manual provides a common language for describing cracks, potholes, rutting, spalling, and other pavement distresses being monitored by the LTPP program. The manual is divided into three sections, each focusing on a particular.

In , the Strategic Highway Research Program began the largest and most comprehensive pavement performance test in history—the Long-Term Pavement Performance (LTPP) program. During the program’s year life, highway agencies in the United States and 15 other countries will have collected data on pavement condition, climate, and. Accurate, consistent, and repeatable distress evaluation surveys can be performed by using the Distress fdent{fication Manual for the Long-Term Pavement Pe1formance Program. Color photographs and drawings illustrate the distresses found in three basic. and traffic volumes and loads from more than a thousand pavement test sections. That information will allow pavement engineers to design better, longer-lasting roads.
